Winter Thank You Notes

We had a snow day yesterday and didn't get to have our Christmas party at school.  So for my thank you notes for my students, I wanted to make something that wasn't so Christmasy since they won't be getting them until January.  I went to my retired Christmas Designer Series Paper to find a pattern I had enough of that would allow for several 3 x 4 pieces of the same thing.  I need to make several and want something I can put together pretty quickly.   This Real Red and Baja Breeze combination feels wintery and thanks to my Jolly Bingo Bits set, it's a one stamp card and done.

Four Seasons Christmas Card

We started making Christmas cards at my Christmas in July Stamp-a-Stack, and I was sure to make a set for myself at every Christmas event I did.  BUT there is one problem when your stamping friends stamp with you -- they have made all of my cards too!  So here's the card they got in the mail.

Smore Snowman

I finally decided to part with this smore snowman card that I made in my pre-blogging days.   That's one of the nice things about having a blog - you can keep a virtual copy of all the cards you ever make!

Telescoping Snowman

While I am busy making my Christmas cards, I thought I would repost one of my favorites from last Christmas.

Christmas Tags Galore!

Last night was my one stamp-a-stack a year that we don't actually stamp a stack of card.  At the December stamp-a-stack, we make Christmas tags. Everyone went home with 30 tags last night!

Christmas Window Easel Card

We have made easel cards before in stamp club, but I wanted to do another to use my new framlit.  To make this one a little different, we made a "stained glass window".  What's really neat about this card is that you can put a battery operated candle behind it for an added glow.

Santa Belt Gift Card Holder

Here's a quicker gift card holder if you have a number of them to make.  It's a swing card just like the Santa I posted Saturday, but it is horizontal, and has a lot fewer parts.

Santa Gift Card Holder

This turned out to be a popular project at stamp club.  I first saw the idea of the Santa face made this way on Pinterest.  It was made by Diana Ball-Seitz, and she used it as a gift tag.  I usually do a gift card holder as one of my Christmas projects, so I made it into a swing card to hold a gift card.

Holiday Catalog Ornament

This was our "big" project last week in stamp club.   If it looks familiar, you probably recognize it from the cover of the holiday catalog.  It's not that hard, but it takes some time because you need 20 of the green and 20 of the red ornaments.  After that, it's just a lot of folding and gluing.  So while some people were making the other 3 projects part of the group made this and then we switched.

Colorful Scrapbooking

As I was thinking about the layout for Tuesday's scrapbook club, I had the idea to make the title multicolored.  So then when I was looking at my pictures, I thought these market pictures would be perfect.  The bright colors also worked for "regular" pictures too!

Paper Doily Wreath

Here's a great way to use the Paper Doily Sizzlit.  It takes a little time punching out the pieces, but then goes together to make an easy, striking card.  I added a fork bow at the top using a meat fork to make it a little bigger.

Ornament Keepsakes/Watercolor Wishes Christmas Combo

I cased this card from my friend and fellow demonstrator, Mary McNeely. It was a popular swap card among my stampers so I decided they would be happy to have one of their own.

Cany Cane Christmas Cards

I was experimenting with this candy cane striped paper and came up with a few different versions of the same basic card.  I put out the stamps and supplies at my last stamp-a-stack so everyone could choose their stamp set and make one of the top two cards.  The bottom card was my first card, but when I realized all of my stamp-a-stack cards were predominately white or vanilla, I decided to switch the colors around.

Watercolor Wishes Christmas

Here's my first Watercolor Wishes card of the season, but I am sure it won't be the last.  It is in the current holiday catalog, and I sure hope to see it in the new big catalog that will come out in June!  At my last stamp-a-stack, some people chose to use the 2 steps to stamp it while others stamped it once in black and then colored with markers or watercolor crayons.

Christmas Bag-a-lope

When I first started stamping, I learned to use an envelope to make a small little bag.  It never occurred to me until recently (thanks M.E.)  that if you used a big envelope, you would get a bigger bag.  So I went to the store for the white, large mailing envelopes, and it didn't occur to me until I got home and started in that I shouldn't have bought envelopes with the blue security print on the inside.  To make the envelope, cut the top off and score the remaining three sides.  Then stick you hand in the bag and gently work the corner into a gusset and score lines into the bag shape.  Now there's no need to buy gift bags again!

Thanksgiving Fall Leaves

Gently Falling is one of my favorite stamp sets this time of year, and it seems to be very popular among my stampers.  So we made this card as a fall card that could be made into a Thanksgiving card too.  I saw a lot of birthday and thank you versions of this at my stamp-a-stack.

Build-a-Bear Scrapbook Page

A couple of weeks ago we did this layout in scrapbook club.  I thought I would share Becky's take on that same layout.  She rotated the page to accommodate her pictures and went with a bright, bold color combination to go with her nephew's first visit to Build-a-Bear.

Fall Sunset Masking Card

Careful placement of Post-it notes for masking and a few sponges makes a quick and easy card.  Start with the darker color on the bottom and work your way up.  I used Cajun Craze, Pumpkin Pie and Daffodil Delight.  I should have taken my picture before stamp club because those sponges can smudge up a finished card when you toss them all into the same tub!

Tri-fold Fall Leaf Card

I remember seeing a card something like this while browsing the internet awhile ago.  Of course I couldn't find it when I was ready to make one myself.   I just knew using this Gently Falling stamp set would make a great tri-fold card.  Once I made the card, I decided I liked the outline of the dark card stock behind the bottom panel and added that to the back.

Happy Halloween Pennant Card

Pennants are pretty popular these days in card and scrapbook making.  I decided I better get in on the pennant action too with my latest Halloween stamp-a-stack.  We used the Howlstooth and Scaringbone Designer Series Paper and the hostess stamp set, Wacky Wishes.

Halloween Purses

The petite purse die has so many possibilities beyond just a purse.  I made the Frankenstein with stamp club, and my friend, Rae Anne, made the jack o' lantern as a party favor for scrapbook club.  Imagine all of the other characters you can make!

I was inspired by my friend Mary Ellen's Frankenstein, and you can click here to check hers out.

Scrapbook Layout for Club Tonight

Here's tonight's layout for Scrapbook Club.  I had a request for a layout that would feature several pictures of the same size.  So I went with the six along the bottom and then stuck in a few more that I wanted to include on this page.  I left an area for journaling so I need to get to it soon while the details of this church are still in my mind.  What an incredible place!

Christmas Advent Calendar

Look what we made today!  Thanks to the ladies who came for today's advent calendar class.  We all have our favorites, but everyone was happy with the end product!

Some of you may recognize this from the mini catalog last year.  My friend and fellow demonstrator, Mary, and I worked together to change the colors and layout to work with the Candlelight Christmas Designer Series Paper in the current holiday catalog.  I know I will be glad we did when December gets here!

Hello Friend Card

Here is another of our recent Stamp-a-Stack cards.  It was inspired by a swap I saw at convention a year ago.  I didn't own this set, My Friend, until that convention but there were so many great cards made with it that I came home and had to order it.  I hadn't used it for awhile so felt like a new set to everyone.

Frightening Feline Halloween

This card was made by fellow demonstrator and friend, Rae Anne Littrell.  Isn't it the cutest?  It's made with Frightening Feline from the holiday catalog.  She created this card for a swap and was voted to win a prize by other demonstrators.

Happy You Friend Card

Here is a slightly sideways view of a recent stamp-a-stack card.  There are several stamps in the hostess set, Happy You, so stampers picked the stamp they wanted and colored with watercolor crayons.

More Tie Dye Technique!

If you didn't see my earlier post, I did the tie dye technique on white and now here's the black version.  I think it has a lot of possibilities for Halloween!

Tie Dye Embossing Birthday Card

I was waiting for it to cool down so we could do this technique in stamp club.  When it was 100 degrees outside, it felt a little silly to have a room full of stampers use the heat tool.  So in September, I figured it would be safe to fire it up and emboss 3 different colors of embossing powder to create this tie dye effect.  Stamp your image with VersaMark and strategically sprinkle the embossing powder over it.  Once sprinkled it really isn't usable again so use a light touch.  I did use the castoff to fill in areas not covered well enough, but beyond that, the colors mix together and won't give you the same look if you reuse them.

Sunflower Card

Isn't this a beautiful card?  My talented friend, Mary Ellen, designed this as one of her swaps for convention.  I did some tweaking so that I could use supplies I had on hand and did my best to recreate her work.  You can see hers here.

Triple Layer Gently Falling

I've been seeing these cards on Pinterest and decided to try one of my own.  They really are very easy but have a dramatic look.  Place your three layers of light card stock staggered on top of each other and tack them together.  Stamp the images (it will look bad), pull them apart and layer with the darker card stock.  The layering covers all the ugly areas of the stamping and you have a pretty quick card that looks like you put much more work into it than you really did!

Gingham Technique Pefrectly Preserved Cherries

Don't have a background paper that works for your color combination?  Make your own.  This gingham technique was easy to do.  Using your brayer, ink up the inside of your Stripes Embossing Folder.  Put your card stock in the folder and run it through the Big Shot like you would normally do.  Then reink your folder and turn the card stock a quarter turn before placing it in the folder again.  Run it back through the Big Shot and voila - you have a gingham background with texture too!

Keep Calm and Stamp On Free Standing Pop-up Card

Here's a free standing pop-up card we did this month in stamp club.  I had visions of doing this card when I first got my hands on this Carry On stamp set.  A lot of the ladies did the birthday version of this card which turned out pretty cute too!  When folded flat, it fits in a standard envelope, but when opened it stands on its own to display you work on the inside and out!  Click here for the tutorial at Splitcoaststampers.

Pennant Parade Scrapbook Layout

My scrapbook club ladies had a specific request last month.  So here is my layout for Tuesday featuring pennants.  I do believe most layouts will work for most pictures, and my scrapbook club is proof.  I can do a layout of a vacation as the sample, and when the night is over, we all have used the same layout for pictures of babies, racing, concerts, high school sports and family activities. However when I sat down to do my layout for this month, the pictures I had printed are of an enormous, elaborate church in Barcelona.  I didn't really think that would be the most appropriate use of pennants.  So I pulled some old extras from a past vacation to do a sample, and then I will use this layout again for more recent vacation pictures.

Lovely as a Tree Reflection Technique

September Stamp Club is tomorrow so I guess that means I am a little slow if I am just now posting an August Stamp Club project featuring the reflection technique.  After sponging the background with the two colors, we stamped the tree at the top.  Then we reinked the stamp, stamped it onto waxed paper and then pressed the waxed paper down below the tree to create the "reflection".  This is such a good stamp set to use to create the refection and a perfect time of year to do it!

Perfectly Preserved Flowers

Here's another Perfectly Preserved card.  I've posted cards with the pear and the apple and now here are the flowers from that set.  Maybe that versitility is one of the reasons it has been a popular set with my customers. The new woodgrain embossing folder adds a nice fall touch too.

Perfectly Preserved Jar Card

I am sure a lot of you are Pinterest readers too and may have seen several of these types of cards with the window lately.  This Perfectly Preserved stamp set just has so many possibilities.  For this card, stamp the jar on a Window Sheet and when you open the card, there is a pear down in the bottom corner.
