Stamping Wedding Favors

My cousin, Melissa, is getting married soon, and we planned a month ago to make her wedding favors.  We made a few prototypes, picked our favorite one and set a date to get together.  It was a full day of crafting, but we got a system going and definitely started moving along.

I stamped, and Melissa punched and punched and punched...

Once all of the circles and scallops were done, we got to work assembling.  It took a little experimenting with adhesive, but once we made our decision, we were ready to go.

Late afternoon we needed a little pick me up and broke out the licorice, but we did manage to stop for a delicious lunch and had leftovers for our supper break.

We had our system down by this time - I did ribbon and passed the jars to Melissa who finished everything and boxed them back up.  What you can't see are the three huge boxes behind us filled with finished jars!

It was a fun day of "work", and I am looking forward to Melissa's and Jake's wedding in a few weeks!

Road to Happiness Slider Card

Here's my first of 2 cards using Road to Happiness.  I loved how easy a slider card was with the car driving across the front.  Cutting the cans out took a little time but so much cuter with them dangling behind the car.  Check back again soon to see what else I did with this set.  Thanks Rae Anne for loaning it to me!  If you want to see some of my other slider cards, click here and here

Pyramid Wedding Card

Ok, I saved the best for last.  This was the card that it seemed the audience liked best.  I have to say, I like it a lot too!  Check my last few posts to see other samples of a pyramid card.

Embossed Ribbon Wedding Card

This one is hard to see, but I went ahead and posted it because it is a fun idea for you to try.  Like the embossed fabric and aluminum foil cards that I posted, you can attach card stock to the back of ribbon with adhesive sheets and emboss the ribbon in an embossing folder.  So black wasn't the best color for me to choose, but if you look carefully, you can see the Finial Press embossing on the ribbon.  And you will have to trust me when I tell you it shows up in real life :-)

Embossed Wedding Card

At our Spring into Stamping meeting last month, Tami White demonstrated embossing folders.  Some people cut them to emboss only part of the card, but this is so much better for people like me.  I had ordered this embossing folder a long time ago when I first learned you could cut the folder and create sections of embossing, but I just couldn't bring myself to cut into it and "destroy" it.  So it sat in my drawer until I saw this!  Emboss a piece of cardstock and use it at your pattern.  Trim away the parts you don't want embossed and then cut a piece of chipboard to match.  Put that chipboard (I taped my down so it wouldn't move) on the outside of your folder.  Run it through your Big Shot on platform 2 with only 1 cutting pad.  I added some rhinestones in the middle of the designs for just a little bling.

Wedding Season is Right Around the Corner

I try to do a wedding card at my stamp-a-stacks about this time every year.  But then if you don't have 3 weddings coming up, you've got cards you can't use.  So this card works for most any occasion and gave the ladies lots of different options.

Faux Mother of Pearl Wedding Card

I spent some time last week in Georgia for my good friend's wedding.  I had a great time and it was a beautiful day for an outdoor wedding.  But when I got home, it took me a few days to get back into the swing of things.  I had a stamp club and a stamp-a-stack so I have plenty of projects to post for you in the next several days.  Here's a Faux Mother of Pearl wedding card we did in club.  I made one for Beth and Kirk but used a retired cardstock that fit her wedding colors perfectly.  This one uses Baja Breeze and Marina Mist.  The Tulip frame turned out to be a great choice if you notice my bouquet is all ivory tulips.

Wedding Favor

A good friend of mine will be getting married soon,  and she has asked me to help her figure out favor boxes.  So I grabbed my catalog and went right to the Lovely Letters alphabet set.  I used a scrap of retired Pale Plum cardstock because it is pretty close to our wisteria bridesmaid dresses and stamped it with Perfect Plum.  Stamping off once before stamping the ampersand allowed me to overlap the letters so everything would fit on the Decorative Label Punch without seeming too crowded.  I think the Old Olive ribbon works well for her mossy green accent color.

New Hostess Set Sneak Peek

This card uses two new hostess stamp sets and two returning (former In-Colors) colors. It was so much fun inking up these brand new stamps for a swap I am participating in with other demos. I used Pink Pirouette and Wild Wasabi to color directly onto the stamp. For those of you who already own those ink pads, there are now markers to match! I liked the soft look created by layering vellum paper and then stamping the words on the top layer.

Stampin' Up! gave us demonstrators the Just Because set, and I think I will be getting a lot of use out of it - I even stamped the hydrangeas on the envelope I used to mail my swaps!

Supplies: Just Because (Level 1 hostess), Occasional Quotes (Level 3 hostess) stamp sets, Pink Pirouette, vellum, Whisper White and Wild Wasabi cardstock, Pink Pirouette, Wild Wasabi ink, Big Shot, Top Note die, crop-a-dile, organza ribbon

Bride and Groom Wedding Card Update

Here's an updated version of Thursday's post.  Instead of hoarding one of my favorite cards, I decided to make more.  But this time, I used my Big Shot and a Texturz Plate from Backgrounds 1 to make the bridal gown.  Talk about a time saver!!  I still used Shimmery White cardstock which doesn't show up well in the picture, but it is quite pretty in real life!  I used the 3/4 inch square punch to make the bow tie by cutting the square into 4 pieces, and this card also opens in the center.       Supplies:  Basic Black, Shimmery White cardstock, Big Shot, Texturz Plate from Backgrounds 1 3/4 in. square punch, 1/8 in. hole punch, Organza Ribbon

Bride and Groom Wedding Card

When I was pulling out some Shimmery White cardstock for a stamp club project this week, I came across the template I used for a wedding card last spring. I think it could be one of my all time favorites. I just cut the triangles free-hand, and the dress is Shimmery White cardstock with clear embossing. I used a retired set To Have and To Hold for the embossed images on the gown. On the inside, I used another piece of Shimmery White with silver and black ink.

Supplies:  Shimmery White, Basic Black cardstock, To Have and To Hold stamp set, clear embossing powder, heat tool, Basic Black, Silver ink, Whisper White Taffeta Ribbon

Plum Wedding Card

This was our final Stamp-a-Stack card for this month. I try to do one wedding card each spring for those people attending weddings during the summer. But even if you don't have 3 weddings on your calendar, it is always nice to have one in your file. This card uses Very Vanilla cardstock and ribbon, but I think the embossed Pale Plum adds a simple elegance to this card.

Supplies:  Fun and Fast Notes, All Year Cheer III(retired) stamp set, Perfect Plum, Pale Plum, Very Vanilla cardstock, Silver ink, Big Shot, Texturz Plates backgrounds 1

Elegant Bouquet Resist

Last month was our last Big Shot Club meeting, and I was trying to jam in all of the great things you can do with a Big Shot before we were done. There are so many other things we could have done, but I wanted to be sure to feature this cool technique. With a brayer, roll ink on the inside of the top of your embossing folder (I used Elegant Bouquet). Stick your cardstock in and run it through the brayer like normal. Since the brayer doesn’t go down into the recessed areas, there is an ink-free embossed area. A pretty cool look that's easy to do!

Supplies:  Heard from the Heart stamp set, Lovely Lilac ink, Very Vanilla and Lovely Lilac cardstock, brayer, Elegant Bouquet Embossing Folder, Big Shot
