Daisy Delight Thank You

I've been having fun creating cards for my Quick and Easy Cards class on Monday.  There's just something about a card that doesn't have a lot of layers and that goes together quickly.  I know I sometimes subscribe to the more is better philosophy when simple can be quite stunning.   I was inspired to put the white daisy on the coordinating Designer Series Paper and then on white again after seeing a box made by a demo in Europe.  While the box was not quick and easy, the white on DSP on white is, and I knew I wanted to do something along those lines.

Thank You Notes with Scraps

Thanks to the icy weather before Christmas, I'm going back to school and will be having a Christmas party with my students on our first day. I wanted to be prepared with thank you notes since we are well past Christmas.  How do you use your scraps? I used a piece of 3 1/4 x 2 3/4 DSP on a note card.  It's a quick thank you card and a simple way to use up some scraps. If you're using card stock and standard envelopes, make your center image a little bit bigger or post it in the upper half of the card.

Pretty Pocket Card Kit

These simple but cute notes with together so quickly.  And the nice thing about it being a kit, is that you can adjust it to your liking. I chose to leave off the bakers twine and save that for another project. This kit will be available starting January 4 as a Sale-a-brations reward item.

Apple of My Eye Thank You

Today is the last day for the 2015-2016 annual catalog and for the spring occasions catalog. There is just one more night before we can order from the new catalog.  Have you made your wish list yet?  I needed to make a few thank you notes for some of my first-graders. I always try to make my thank yous somewhat teacherish, and I knew Appple of My Eye would be perfect. And as a bonus for me, it would be one last chance for me to use one of my favorite sets.

Springy Thank You

 

 

 

Over at Paper Players, they are hosting a challenge that is right up my alley -- a spring thank you.  The rules are simple, and all we have to do is pull out spring colors and images.  So I dug out this stamp set that hasn't seen much action since last summer and stamped in Strawberry Slush.  I experimented with different ways to frame this image and settled on the ruffed stretch trim ribbon.  I just put Snail adhesive out to the edges of the oval and worked my way around, sticking the ribbon as I went.  The background needed to be simple so it wouldn't take away from the ruffle, and I settled on the Fancy Fan embossing folder for some background texture.  I recently learned that Sassy Salutations is a favorite stamp set of some of my stampers, and I have to say I love how it fills in the space on this card. A few little pearls added just the right amount of bling~

Petal Parade

 

I wanted to use a new Sale-a-bration set for last week's stamp-a-stack, and it was the perfect set to help beat the winter blahs with this springy card.  We used some of the newest in-colors and added a couple of butterflies.

Apple Thank You Card

I took my color choices for this card from the coordinating Orchard Harvest Designer Series Paper and stamped the apples in Raspberry Ripple.  Who knew?  Raspberry apples.  But it looks great and fallish.  This paper pack has a lot of great choices so it was easy to put a card together around this paper.  I'm looking forward to using the Cannery Set Framelits with this stamp set too!

A Fork for Stamping?

To create a square tulip frame, start with a 4 1/8” square of cardstock.  Run it through the Big Shot like you normally would.  Then flip your cardstock around 90 degrees and move embossed cardstock around until lined up in already embossed areas.  You can also tell by the look through the plastic.  Run it back through the Big Shot half way only.  Isn't that a great way to get double duty out of your Framed Tulips Embossing Folder?  The bow was made using a fork - yes, you read that right, a fork!  Here are the directions but you might prefer seeing it.  Just Google fork bows and you should find something pretty easily.  Fold ribbon in half and wrap around entire fork with tails to the right.  Pull bottom ribbon around to the front and tuck down through center tines below ribbon.  Wrap remaining tail around to the front and tuck down through center tines above ribbon.  Tie one time in the back and pull off of fork.

Another Apple Thank You

Here is another version of this thank you card modified so that it doesn't use the Big Shot and alphabet dies.  I liked the "school look" the Spiral punch created.  This card goes together quicker too since the thank you is a stamp instead of individually glued letters.  It looks a little off in the photo, but everything is straight except the black piece.  Many of you know I don't do "jaunty" often.

Apple Thank You

This is one of the projects I worked on yesterday while stamping with friends (thanks Deana for the invite!).  I have seen several cards and projects made with punch art apples but had never made a card using one.  They are super easy to do and make a perfect card for the end of the school year.

Windshield Wiper Card Thank You

Here's another stamp club project we did last week.  I used two retiring colors and liked them so well I used that combination for a stamp-a-stack card too.  The colors are Taken with Teal and Green Galore, and if you want some of your own, the supplies are dwindling in certain colors.  They won't all be available through the end of May as we expected.  Click here to order these or any other retiring colors.  

 

When you pull the card on each side, the little flag piece comes up like a windshield wiper!  You just stick the flag down in one corner and it will fold up and down with the card.

Plain and Simple Thank you

When I first created this card, I liked it but was worried it was too plain.  So my go to product is usually ribbon... that didn't look right.  I stamped a background... that looked too unorganized.  I tried stamping a row of circles along the bottom of the card...that was too busy.  So I just left it alone for a day.  When I came back, I decided the simplicity was what I liked most about it.  It could go for most any occasion and with the Mellow Moss cardstock, it could be for a man or a woman.  So my first instinct and attempt turned out to be right, but it never hurts to explore your options ;-)
