Happy ValentineTWINES Day

I wanted to make a few Valentines for my stamping friends, and when I saw this idea on Pinterest I knew I could do it with my Stampin' Up! bakers twine.  I pulled out a variety of current and retired twine for a nice variety of Valentine "cards".  You can see the original on my Valentine's Day board.

Valentine Treats

It's been a busy week for me, and as a result, I have been neglecting my blogging...well thanks to a snow day at my house, I am going to get some catching up done!  My neighbor shoveled my driveway last night so first order of business today was to bake some cookies.  I'll do some blogging next and then head to the craft room for a scrapbook layout for next week's scrapbook club.  Let me know if you'd like to join us as a guest.

Here's my long overdue Valentine "card" for my students.  They are so funny when opening their cards because they are surprised and feel they need to tell me they got one from me.  Yes, I know.  I put it there.  This is not unlike running in to them in public and them telling me the next day at school that they saw me.  Yes, I know.  We talked to each other :-)  One of the many reasons I like teaching first grade.

My Digital Studio Valentine

I saw this idea on Pinterest and knew I needed to make a couple for my bubble gum-loving niece and nephew.  I made a quick label on My Digital Studio and attached it to a container of Bubble Tape.  Talk about easy!  I popped them into a bubble mailer and off they went for an after school surprise.

Happy Valentine's Day Card

I pinned Karen Graff-Povis's card on Pinterest awhile back because I really liked the layout.  I thought it would be a great layout for our Valentine Stamp-a-Stack card, and all of my stampers seemed to agree.  It is such a versatile layout that it would work with so many different Designer Series Papers and coordinating stamp sets.

More Amore Quick Valentine

The More Amore Designer Series Paper has two specialty pages of these laser cut hearts.  My habit is to save these sorts of pages for something special, and I tend to hold on to them too long.  But this time I decided to open my package and pull them out first.  It takes a little patients to cut the hearts apart, but with careful cutting, they can all be used.  I mounted it on this square tulip frame to make a cute little card. Two Tags Valentine Treat Holder

 

This cute Two Tags die Valentine treat holder was the perfect way for me to try out two new products from the Spring Catalog.  The Delicate Details Lace Tape from page 3 was really easy to work with.  I started at the back corner and before I pressed it down firmly, I was able to position it so that the ends met up perfectly.  Then I added a Designer Builder Brad from page 12 to finish it off.  The handle of the basket even hides the prongs of the brad.  My friend, Julie Davison, has a great tutorial on her blog.

Pixy Stix Butterfly

I've been working on these butterflies since October.  I know you're thinking - what?!?!  I'll explain.  I got together with my stamping friends last fall at Deana's house.  We all brought our own projects.  When I finished what I was working on, I spent my time cranking all of these butterflies out on my Big Shot with a borrowed die.  So when we stamped at Rae Anne's house last month, I stamped the back and assembled them so I was ready for Valentine's Day - no stamping February 13th like most years for me!

Top Note Valentine Pouch

This was a quick little candy pouch for Valentine's Day.  I did use the new heart framelit and textured impression embossing folder, but you could do this for any occasion.  I trimmed the cardstock to fit a cellophane bag an filled it with M & Ms.

Double Embossed Valentine Card

Like many of you, I have become a Pinterest addict.  So recently while just poking around on Pinterest, I found a card that I decided to CASE.  It was just so nice the way it was that I changed the colors a little and the ribbon, but it is pretty much a copy of Melissa Davies card.  Her card can be found on Stampin' Connection which is a demonstrator website full of fantastic samples like this one.

Emboss Resist "Smiley"

What a cute little set - Sprinkled Expressions is one of the new Sale-a-bration stamp sets and was the perfect stamp to make a "smiley". While at a Stampin' Up! regional event a fellow demonstrator demonstrated this cute little easel card and called it a "smiley".  Unfortunately my note taking isn't the greatest so I don't remember her name.  I am hoping one of my readers can tell me, and then I can add her name to this post. 
We embossed the heart with white embossing powder and then sponged over the top with Pink Pirouette for an emboss resist before putting the card together.

Be Mine, Valentine

Time to switch gears from Christmas to Valentine's Day.  I made this card for a swap I am doing with some fellow demonstrators and it features the stamp, Candy Conversations, from the Occasions Mini Catalog that starts January 4. 

It's a single stamp that I stamped several times down the cardstock.  I masked off the words as I went and then for the bottom row, I masked off the hearts.  I popped up the Be Mine heart in the center with a dimensional.

Same Great Layout

Here's another card using the same layout and color combination from the birthday card that I copied from Kim.  It was just such a nice layout and I had new Big Shot dies to use so I designed this as a possible Valentine's Day card.

Happy Valentine's Day

Happy Valentine's Day!  This might be my favorite project from stamp club last week.  I ordered the new petal cone die from the Occasions Mini Catalog and wanted to find some other uses for it besides just petal cones (stay tuned - I have a petal cone to post soon).  Well how about a heart?  With two cut out shapes you can make a card like I did, or attach them and make a pouch to slide a little treat into.  It does still have the crease in the center because it is designed to be folded into a cone.  No problem - cover it with a big flower of some kind.  And it was a perfect opportunity to make the accordion fold flower Darleen had asked me about.

There was nothing difficult about the flower.  When I was designing the project, I eventually got smart and took the whole sheet of Designer Series Paper and scored it at one time.... then I cut the strips.  So that took a lot of the work out of the additional flowers I made and for the club ladies.  This flower was made with a 1 1/2 x 12 strip scored at 1/4 inch.  After folding it, attach the ends like you are making a bracelet, flatten out the circle and stick it down.  I used a circle of sticky pages because I didn't want that thing to budge. 

I used retired Designer Series Paper for the flower because it had Pink Pirouette and Riding Hood Red in it, and I was trying to mix up my Valentine colors a little for those ladies who attend multiple events. We used buttons from the Holiday Mini and attached them with a glue dot wadded into the hole of the accordion fold.  And too keep with the retired theme, I used my all-time favorite Valentine's Day stamp. 

The tag was made with Tiny Tags and the matching punch.  It was a nice way to finish off the card and gave the ladies other options besides "love" for their tag.

Bugs and Kisses Valentine

Here is the Bugs and Kisses card I made for my niece.  I started out planning to give this one to my nephew since it was a bug card, but I decided it was too pink and she would like it much more.

Bubblegum Machine Valentine

I have learned to put the cards I send to my niece and nephew in the same envelope.  Because even though I mail them on the same day, they don't always arrive together.  So to eliminate any problems, I have started putting them in the same envelope.  I don't know who gets to open the 1 envelope, but that seems to be a better plan than one getting mail and the other child not getting anything from Aunt Rachel. 

So here's my nephew's card this year.  I put a window sheet behind the cut out circle so it does have more of a gumball machine look in real life.

Valentine

This is the last of our 3 cards from last weekend's stamp-a-stack.  I designed this thinking it could work for most anyone.  I got all of my Valentine's Day words out, and one of the ladies even made hers into a birthday card.

Tealights

Aren't these cute?  You can use the same technique for stamping on candles on tealights.  Stamp your image on tissue paper and color.  I used marker here but have also used colored pencils.  Cut the image, and if you use a shape that works in our punches, it's as easy as can be.  For a tealight you need to use a hole punch to make room for the wick.  It's a big help to punch the tissue on a piece of scratch paper so that the tissue doesn't tear. 

Place the tissue on the candle and heat with a heat tool to "melt" the tissue into the wax.  It is really still there, but the wax of the candle melts around it.  If you were doing a candle, you could hold it on securely while you heat it with wax paper. 

I have been planning for a few months to do a tealight with stamp club sometime soon.  And then in my latest APEX swap organized by my upline, I got one of these from another talented demo in our group.... great minds do "ink" alike!

Valentine Diorama Card

I first made one of these "diorama" cards at my friend's (Julie Davison) Stampin' Up! meeting, and it has only taken me a couple of years to make another one.  In fact, I have made a few - you may remember my posting a similar card a couple of months ago for Rae Anne's baby shower.  This particular card was for stamp club this month, and I did a similar version for a Valentine swap that I was in with other demonstrators. 

Start with an 8 x 8 square of cardstock. Here's the card showing the back side.

Apply some adhesive in the corner...

**I was rereading my finished post and realized I didn't take a picture of the card after putting the two pieces together....and I was so pleased with myself that I took all of these pictures.  Oops!  So for now, I will tell you that piece with the two hearts pulls over and sticks to the Sticky Strip at the top which allows the card to close.  But when it is open, it is a 3 sided card and forms a "corner".  **

Flip it over and add the ribbon...

And voila!
